DS2 and DS5

We revisted 2 tot lots in Dorsey's Search on Thursday, June 24, 2021

Tot Lot DS2 we last visited in 2017! We didn't spend a lot of time, so I may have missed a couple of things.  It didn't look like a lot had changed. There is still the wooden slide structure with steps and monkey bars attached. The slide is plastic and had a couple of bumps going down. There are still pull up bars and a balance/bouncy thing.  The only change I noticed was the swings - there are 4 swings on one big structure - 2 baby swings, and 2 big kid swings. In my notes from our last visit there was a sandbox. I did not notice a sandbox this time.  There was at least one bench to sit on, and it was pretty well shaded.

Next we visited DS05, which we last visited in 2019, took notes on, but apparently never published! This tot lot has had a lot of updates over the past 2 years. I think everything there is new/rebuilt. The swings are on one structure, 2 baby swings, 2 big kid swings, and these were in pretty sunny spot. There was a nice square sandbox, with a lot of toys in it. It appeared that someone had even donated a small plastic kid-sized picnic table next to the sandbox.  The slide structure here is new and is more on par with what we usually see at the big park playgrounds. It's plastic, with a large rock climbing wall on one side and a couple of different ladders to climb up. There are also steps up to the slide.  I counted at least 3 slides, all plastic, of differing heights - one set of 3 slides side by side, a medium slide with a little curve, and a higher slide with a couple of bounces. There are a couple of benches to sit on near the sandbox. But, the wooden 'outline' of the tot lot has been topped with plastic, which makes it safer to sit on for kids and  parents - no splinters, no bugs and insects. This part of of the tot lot had some shade. It's set far enough back from the road that it felt safe, and also has a large field and a big rock to climb.

KC13 & KC11

We visited KC13 and KC11 on August 2, 2019

KC13 is a nice large tot lot that is nicely spread out. There is a 2 level balance beam and pull up bars at 3 different heights. There are 2 baby swings on one beam, at the opposite end are 4 big kid swings, which are pretty high off the ground. There is a sandbox here too. The large slide structure has big steps to climb up as well as a chain link climber. Attached to the slide structure are monkey bars and a fireman's pole.  The plastic slide is about 5 feet high and goes straight down. We were there on a cloudy day, so it was hard to tell how shaded the tot lot is. However, we were surrounded by trees, so I suspect there's at least some shade here.

We drove over to KC11, which is about one mile away. This is a loud tot lot! It backs up to 95, so there's a steady hum of traffic. The small slide structure has a ramp going up and a metal slide, which is about 5 1/2 feet high that goes straight down. There are 2 bouncy animals. Behind the bouncy animals is a beam with one baby swing and one big kid swing. Across the path there is another beam with 2 big kid swings. It's somewhat well shaded here.

LR05

We visited LR05 on July 17, 2019.

This tot lot was a short walk down the path from the street. Each area of the tot lot is in it's own little area.  There are 3 big kid swings and 2 baby swings all on the same beam. There is one bouncy animal, right in front of the 2 benches. There's a ramp up to the slide, which is plastic. The slide is about 4 feet high and goes straight down. This is a nicely shaded tot lot as well.

HR07

We visted HR07 on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

HR07 is visible from the circle on Sebring Dr. It is also accessible via the pathways from Loventree Rd. and Covington Rd.
This is a very nice tot lot with lots of green grassy areas on either side of it. There are 4 big kid swings and 2 baby swings, each on separate beams, but next to each other. There are 3 bouncy animals. The slide structure is a nice size and has a chain link to climb up as well as big wide steps to climb up. The slide is about 5 1/2 feet high, plastic, and goes straight down. There are monkey bars and a fireman's pole attached to the slide structure too. There is a one level balance beam and and a plastic tunnel.
This tot has 3 benches to sit on and has a lot of sunlight. There is not much shade here at all!
On the recommendation of another parent at this tot lot we visited HR09, which is also known as the treehouse tot lot. I had actually visited this tot lot back in 2015. Here is a link to that blog post, with some updated notes and pictures. HR09 blog post.

TC2 & TC3

We visited tot lots TC2 and TC3 on July 16, 2019. These two tot lots are in the Town Center, not too far from the mall.

We parked on Cloudy April Way, which is in a townhouse development to get to TC3.  Most of the parking spots there are reserved, so there was limited guest parking, especially in the area near the tot lot. This is also a fairly well shaded tot lot.
The swings are slightly separated from the rest of the play area. There are 2 big kid swings and 2 baby swings. The swings are also in the sunniest part of the tot lot.  There's a nice sandbox with toys in it and 3 bouncy animals. The slide structure has a ramp going up to the slide, which is about 5 1/2 feet high and goes straight down. There is a small plastic tunnel to crawl through. There are also 3 bouncy animals. There are 2 benches to sit on.

We walked to TC2, which is only about 2 minutes away. They're at opposite ends of the townhouse development.
There are 4 swings here too, again 2 big kid swings and 2 baby swings. There are monkey bars, in a slightly separate area as well. There is one bouncy animal. There's a long ramp up to the slide, which is about 6 feet high, plastic and has a couple of bumps going down.  Other than the swing area, most of the tot lot is pretty well shaded.

RH13

We visited RH13 on Thursday, July 11, 2019. There are a couple of path entrances that lead to this tot lot. We parked on Silent Moon Run, but there's also a path entrance from Great Star Drive.

There are 2 bouncy animals here, both of which are a little high off the ground. My 3 year old managed to get on them, but it took a couple of tries. I was also able to sit on them both with my feet comfortably on the ground and I'm just under 5 feet.
There's a nice slide structure with ramps going up. There is also a metal ladder going straight up the side. The plastic slide is about 6 feet high with a couple of bounces going down.  The beam with the swings has 2 big kid swings and one baby swing. There are hooks for a 4th swing, so there may be a swing added at some point. There's a sandbox with no toys. Also, 2 or 3 of the corners were dug down pretty far. There is a balance beam with 3 slightly different heights.
This tot lot is about a 7 minute walk from RH01.
