OB13 - Lake Elkhorn

We visited OB13, also known as the Lake Elkhorn playground/tot lot, on Friday, June 21, 2019.

There is an entrance with a small parking lot behind the tot lot off of Dockside Ln. There is also street parking on Cradlerock Way, across from the McDonald's near the Village Center.  This is definitely one of the largest, if not the largest, of all of the tot lots, and it's definitely more like a playground.

This tot lot has 2 different slide structures, one for ages 2-5, the other for ages 5-12.
The 2-5 structure has 4 slides, one a side by side. All of the slides are plastic, and most are short, the highest is about 5 feet high, with high sides. There is also a fan climber/ladder to climb up the side, and a few small steps going up to the slides.
The 5-12 structure is bigger, with 2 slides, both plastic. The larger slide is about 7 feet high with some twists going down. The smaller slide is about 4 feet high and goes straight down. There are monkey bars attached to the structure, a fireman's pole (a far reach), and lots of other parts to climb and play on.
This tot lot also has 2 bouncy cars, and a balance beam. There is a small sandbox with a lot of toys. There are 2 baby swings on one beam that is centrally located in the tot lot. The 4 big kid swings (which are a bit high off the ground), are on a separate beam, more off to the side of the tot lot.

This tot lot has moments of shade, but also has sunny spots.

There are 5 benches scattered around, and of course the tot lot is next to Lake Elkhorn so a walk near the lake is an option as well.

Also, be aware, this is a popular tot lot, and almost always busy!

OB01

We visited OB01 on Friday, June 21, 2019.
This tot lot is visible from the street, which is nice when exploring an unfamiliar neighborhood. The path/tot lot is located on Fairmead Ln, across from Spicewind Ct.
There are 2 bouncy animals here, they're actually somewhat low to the ground. The slide structure has a ramp going up. There is also a ladder going straight up the side, but it's hard to climb up, partially due to the spacing and partly due to the straightness of it. My little one almost bumped her head on the landing area trying to climb up. The slide is about 5 feet high, plastic and going straight down. The bottom of the slide is about 2 feet off the ground.  There is a square sandbox, but no toys in it. There are 4 swings, 2 baby swings and 2 big kid swings - all on one beam.
There are 2 benches to sit on, and while there are trees around, there's not a lot of shade.

OB11 and OB12

We visited OB11 and OB12 on Monday, July 20, 2018

We started at OB12, which is just off of Star Path in Owen Brown. This tot lot and path really are not connected to any other paths, so it's really a stand alone tot lot.
There is one small sandbox here and monkey bars, which are high! There are also 3 bouncy animals. On one beam there are 3 big kid swings and one baby swing. The slide structure has steps going up to the slide, which is plastic and about 4 1/2 feet high, it goes straight down. There are 2 benches to sit on. This was a fairly well shaded tot lot as well. Today was a bit overcast, so it was already not too sunny, but there were a few trees surrounding the tot lot.

Since there are no paths connected to OB12, we got into the car and drove over to OB11, which is only about a 1/2 mile away. We parked on Dasher Court, but it's also accessible from Dawn Blush Court and Gentle Way. 
OB11 is also pretty well shaded. It's also a nicely spread out tot lot, with each activity in its own little area. On one beam there is a beam with one baby swing and one big kid swing. The big swing was quite high. There was a sandbox with a few toys in it (usually the sign of well used tot lot!). There was a bouncy car, and 2 bouncy animals. The slide structure was quite similar to the one at OB12, with steps going up. The slide was plastic, about 4 1/2 feet high and had a bump going down. There were 2 benches to sit on.

OB06 and OB02

We visited OB06 and OB02 on July 2, 2018.

OB06 is located right by the Owen Brown Community Center and the Dasher Green Pool. It's behind the community center. There is no sign saying that it's OB06. Since it's right next to the pool, this tot lot is fenced in. There are 2 bouncy animals and one bouncy car. There is one baby swing and one big kid swing on the same beam. There's a nice set of monkey bars that are a bit lower to the ground, making it easier for the smaller kids to try, and easier for the parent hold the child up! There's a small sandbox. The metal slide structure has steps going up. There are 2 slides side by side, which are about 5 feet high.  There are no benches to sit on. Most of the tot lot was not shaded (at least in the morning, and based on the trees, or lack thereof).

Despite the very hot weather, we walked over to OB02. We had to cross Cradlerock Way, but the path was right across the street and the walk was less than 10 minutes. If you were to drive there, parking on either Rising Moon or Sunset Light will lead you right to the tot lot. There are 2 bouncy animals and a nice sandbox with toys.  There is one baby swing and 2 big kid swings (of slightly different heights) all on one beam. The slide structure has a ramp going up. There is also a ladder on the back, but the ladder goes up pretty high, and is not on an angle, making it a little harder to climb. The slide is metal, about 5 1/2 feet high and goes straight down. The slide was in direct sun, at least in the morning, which made it very hot to the touch. There are 2 benches to sit on here.

These tot lots aren't far from OB05, OB04, and OB03.

OB10

We visited OB10 on July 31, 2017.
OB10 is accessible from both Smooth Path and Honeyladen Pl. It is visible from the street.  There is one baby swing and 3 big kid swings, all on one beam. The big kid swings are a little high off the ground. There is a set of monkey bars here - again, pretty high up, not for the short kids, unless you can carry your child across. There is one bouncy animal. The plastic slide is about 5 feet high, with two bounces going down. There is a ladder going up to the slide. However, the slide can also be accessed by going around on the grass to the top of the platform.  There is one bench to sit on. This tot lot has some green area around it for the kids to run around in, but it does go up to the sidewalk. This tot lot also backs right up to a house, so we were careful to keep our kids in the 'tot lot' boundaries. It was pretty sunny here, but there were shady pockets, and probably as the day progresses, different areas get the shade.
